چکیده
- The NASA Real Time Mission Monitor (RTMM) is a situational awareness decision-support tool that integrates real time aircraft tracks, aircraft waypoints, satellite imagery, radar products, surface observations, model output parameters and airborne remote sensing variables in an easy to use and view web-based application. RTMM optimizes real time decision-making for mission scientists, pilots, mission managers, instrument scientists and program managers through the delivery and display of upto-date mission information (e.g., the weather, spacecraft, and the location, altitude and heading of the aircraft). The second generation version of RTMM is now fully integrated into a web browser portal and no longer relies on the standalone Google Earth application. The Real Time Mission Monitor is a proven tool having been used in many field experiments from arctic forest fire missions to hurricane eye penetrations as well as tracking the oil slick from British Petroleum (BP) Deepwater Horizon oil well blowout.

NASA Multisensor Aircraft Campaigns for the Study of Forest Ecosystems
This special issue of Remote Sensing of Environment is dedicated to results from research carried out under two NASA-sponsored Multisensor Aircraft Campaigns (MACs) focused on forest ecosystems: the FED (Forest Ecosystems Dynamics) study, which focused on a research site near Howland, Maine (Levine et al., 1993) and the OTTER (Oregon Transect Terrestrial Ecosystems Research) study, which examin...
متن کاملAbsorbing aerosol in the troposphere of the Western Arctic during the 2008 ARCTAS/ARCPAC airborne field campaigns
In the spring of 2008 NASA and NOAA funded the ARCTAS and ARCPAC field campaigns as contributions to POLARCAT, a core IPY activity. During the campaigns the NASA DC-8, P-3B and NOAA WP-3D aircraft conducted over 160 h of in-situ sampling between 0.1 and 12 km throughout the Western Arctic north of 55 N (i.e. Alaska to Greenland). All aircraft were equipped with multiple wavelength measurements ...

The NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) airborne High Spectral Resolution Lidar (HSRL) on the NASA B200 aircraft has acquired extensive datasets of aerosol extinction (532 nm), aerosol optical depth (AOD) (532 nm), backscatter (532 and 1064 nm), and depolarization (532 and 1064 nm) profiles during 18 field missions that have been conducted over North America since 2006. The lidar measurements o...
متن کاملAn Investigation of Eme as a Potential Cause of Fuel Tank Ignition
NASA researchers were tasked to study the potential for radio signals to excite an aircraft fuel quantity indication system (FQIS) enough to cause arcing, sparking or excessive heating within a fuel tank. Computational techniques were used to determine the threat from external high intensity radiated field (HIRF) transmitters nearby, like shipboard and airborne RADAR systems. Experimental metho...
